Seasonal Styling – Cosy Up Your Conservatory for Winter

Some simple tweaks can transform your conservatory from a bright, fresh sunroom to a cosy winter snug. These simple décor additions can be easily stored away when the seasons turn again.

Add some ambience

The shorter days and wetter weather can get a bit dreary. Brighten your mood with some ambient lighting. Dimmer switches and floor lamps will create a cosy atmosphere, perfect for relaxing in. Bulbs play a big part too, choose a soft yellow natural light as opposed to a harsh bright white. Candles offer a simple and cheap way to add some ambience, Christmassy cinnamon smells are our favourites.

Choose cosy colours

You might like to keep your conservatory neutral and bright for the summer; but adding some deeper colours will help to warm the place up come winter. Woody natural colours add rustic charm, while a splash of red will bring some festive cheer. Just adding a tartan throw can inject colour to existing neutral furniture.

Cheat with some heat

It always helps to stick the heating on for an hour or so when you get in from the cold. However most traditional conservatories don’t have radiators. A cheap electric heater will add some additional warmth to your room and can be easily stored away. We’ve even seen some of our customers work a log burner into their CosyRoof conservatory!

Warm up your windows

Adding Curtains or blinds to your conservatory will help to trap the heat, provide privacy when the lights are on, and create an inviting cosy appearance – especially if your get a bit spooked in the dark this time of year.

Roll out the Rug

A rug is an essential come winter especially if you’ve tiled or wooden floors. It will really pull the room together and add a sense of closeness. A long-haired shag pile rug is perfect for warming your toes on a chilly day and might look so comfortable you choose to lounge on it over the sofa.

Layer up

Adding textures to a room can really up the comfort levels. Think layers of fluffy throws, knit cushion covers, faux fur rugs and soft heavy curtains. These layers also provide you your chance to add the warming winter colours as mentioned earlier.

Creature comforts

No snug is complete without all your favourite entertainment. Whether you prefer Netflicks, video games, books or a good sound system, kitting out your conservatory will make you want to spend more time in it this Winter.

There’s no cosier feeling than sitting inside your CosyRoof conservatory watching the stars on a chilly night. Wrapped in a blanket listening to the battering of the wind and rain while enjoying the thought of having nowhere to go.
